Stripe Fees in the European Union — Rates, Examples & Net Payout

Stripe charges businesses in the European Union 1.5% + €0.25 per successful transaction for EEA-issued cards, and 2.5% + €0.25 for non-EEA cards. All amounts below are computed directly from these rates, so they stay in sync if Stripe changes its pricing.

VAT on Stripe fees

Stripe adds local VAT to its fees, at the rate of the merchant's EU country of registration (17–27% depending on member state). VAT-registered businesses can generally recover this as input tax.

For EU customers, SEPA Direct Debit costs only 0.8% capped at €5 per transaction — far cheaper than cards for large B2B invoices and recurring enterprise billing.
